PENNY DREADFUL, 1.4 – 'Demimonde'

written by John Logan | directed by Dearbhla Walsh

A less showy episode than we've been getting with Penny Dreadful, but all the better for it. This is a show that doesn't have to rely on blood, guts, and monsters to entertain its audience, as the human characters are proving to be the real trump cards.

PENNY DREADFUL, 1.3 – 'Resurrection'

written by John Logan | directed by Dearbhla Walsh

This episode was more of a showcase for Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) and his first-born Creature, named Caliban (Rory Kinnear) in the extensive flashback that dominated this third instalment of Penny Dreadful. First there was smiley Irish prostitute Brona Croft (Billie Piper); handsome and kinky playboy Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney); and, eventually, the blood-spattered entrance of Dr Frankenstein's original Creature (Rory Kinnear).

Trailer: Showtime's PENNY DREADFUL

Showtime have teased us for weeks, but here's the full-length trailer for their upcoming "psychosexual horror show" PENNY DREADFUL. This stars Josh Hartnett (Lucky Number Slevin) and Eva Green (Casino Royale), in a story that finds various 'classic monsters' embroiled in the same story: vampire Dracula, immortal muse Dorian Grey (Reeve Carney), the Wolfman, and Frankenstein's Monster (Skyfall's Roy Kinnear).
