After too many diversions (movies, awards shows, stand-up tours, cartoons, comedy travelogues), Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are back doing what they do best: writing a television sitcom.
Life's Too Short is a brand new BBC2 comedy starring renowned "dwarf actor" Warwick Davies (
Return Of The Jedi,
Willow) as the manager of an agency for actors of restricted growth. As you can see from the trailer above, it also features plenty of
Extras-style celebrity appearances (Helena Bonham Carter, Johnny Depp, Sting, Steve Carrell, Liam Neeson), with Ricky and Stephen as co-stars. But this looks to be Warwick's series, first and foremost, and hopefully it won't just be a succession of physical gags about his diminutive height.
As a huge fan of
The Office and, to a slightly lesser extent
Extras, I'm very keen to see this. I have a suspicion Warwick Davies is going to really impress people with his comic sensibility.
LIFE'S TOO SHORT premieres 10 November on BBC2.
