PRISON BREAK - Season 1 Finale

A fantastic 2-hour finale to the brilliant Prison Break last night, a show that has been criminally ignored in the UK but remains the wisest purchase from Channel 5 since House and CSI. It's great news that the show will return for a second season in the US, although it will be interesting to see if the writers can keep Prison Break interesting now its titular "break" has happened...

Mind you, there have always been inherent problems with the concept, but that hasn't stopped the writers from delivering the most addictive and tense TV show since 24. It's actually been enthralling to see how they've successfully stretched a simplistic plot into 22 episodes, even with the added uncertainty that the show would continue past its original 13-episode remit.

The finale, Flight, was a superb slice of drama, excitement, and high tension, as Michael Scofield finally put his breakout plan into action and the inmates of Fox River State Penitentiary made their escape bid. Thrown into the mix were some twists in the conspiracy within the government sub-plot, some chilling characters deaths, and an eye-watering injury for one poor unfortunate...

I can't wait for season 2 to begin! If you haven't seen Prison Break yet I highly recommend buying the Prison Break Season 1, Part 1 DVD (covering episodes 1-13). Or perhaps hold out for the entire season to be released sometimes soon...
