COMMUNITY: school's out... forever?

Season 6 of Community's over and I loved the finale ("Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television"), which was a hilarious meta-commentary on the show's existence and ability to resist cancellation. For half its lifetime, the show's good luck mantra's been #sixseasonsandamovie, and it's now within touching distance of achieving that once-unlikely aim, but I'm not sure if there's as much hunger for a feature-film.

Trailer: COMMUNITY – Season 6 ('Age of Yahoo')

It's the long-awaited trailer for COMMUNITY season 6, which has moved from NBC to Yahoo after being unexpectedly saved by the online giant. Taking stylistic cues from the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, it's three minutes that give us a nice idea of what to expect—including our first look at newcomers Keith David and Paget Brewster. The Dean gets to grips with a VR headset, Abed references The Big Bang Theory, and Chang pulls a Mr Miyagi, what's not to like?

Community returns 17 March on Yahoo. For UK fans, Sony Entertainment Television will be broadcasting episodes less than 24-hours later, starting 18 March @10:05pm. (Uh, scroll deep on your EPG, people...)

Keith David and Paget Brewster join COMMUNITY for season 6

It's finally been revealed how the sixth season of COMMUNITY intends to plug the gaps left by Donald Glover (who quit halfway through last season), Yvette Nicole Brown (who's decided to leave to care for her sick father), Jonathan Banks (who's now too busy with Better Call Saul to return), and John Oliver (who’s too committed with other projects). Yesterday it was announced that Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) and Keith David (Enlisted) will be joining the rest of the cast. Huzzah!

Can the impervious COMMUNITY survive without three original actors?

Has a sitcom ever had a more turbulent life than COMMUNITY? Creator Dan Harmon was fired after three seasons by NBC. The consequently dire fourth season faced a backlash from fans. Harmon was thus rehired, but Chevy Chase didn't return. Then Donald Glover upped sticks halfway through the fifth season, ahead of the show being axed by NBC. Only for it to be rescued for a sixth season by Yahoo online; which Jonathan Banks can't return to because of commitments to Better Call Saul. And now original star Yvette Nicole Brown has announced she won't be back, having decided to spent more time caring for his ailing father.

Trailer: Yahoo's COMMUNITY - launching soon

NBC cancelled geek-favourite comedy COMMUNITY in May, but it was brought back from the dead by online giant Yahoo! And they've just released a nice announcement trailer, that's basically a lot of clips from the past five seasons, structured around NASA launch footage and some jokes riffing on The Six Million Dollar Man and Back to the Future. Typical Community! Very excited to see this show make another unexpected return, although I'd be even more psyched if we knew Donald Glover was coming back, and Jonathan Banks was definitely reprising Buzz Hickey this year.

Community season 6 premieres... sometime soonish.
