It's finally been revealed how the sixth season of COMMUNITY intends to plug the gaps left by Donald Glover (who quit halfway through last season), Yvette Nicole Brown (who's decided to leave to care for her sick father), Jonathan Banks (who's now too busy with Better Call Saul to return), and John Oliver (who’s too committed with other projects). Yesterday it was announced that Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) and Keith David (Enlisted) will be joining the rest of the cast. Huzzah!
Brewster will be playing Francesca "Frankie" Dart, a consultant employed to turn the ailing college's fortunes around. David will play a retired salesman called Elroy Patashnik looking to reinvent himself. Weirdly, both actors already have history with Community. David narrated the season 3 episode "Pillows and Blankets", and Brewster once appeared as Debra Chambers, the head of I.T.
What do you make of this news? I don't have a huge attachment to either actor, so will just have to wait and see how they fare. Community begins filming on 17 November, and is expected to premiere early-2015 at its new online home on Yahoo.
