Showtime have released a 45-second TV spot that promotes the second season of Homeland, the fantastic terrorism drama starring Damian Lewis as a US war hero suspected of being an Al Qaeda terrorist by Claire Danes's CIA operative. The teaser doesn't give us footage pulled direct from the new season (relying instead on old clips and staged tableau), but it does confirm the story will shift to focus on the political angle now Lewis's character's running for office.
I'm really looking forward to Homeland's return. I loved the first season, and knowing that Breaking Bad's days are numbered, this feels like the obvious replacement for my affections. I just hope the high-concept proves robust, because it could very easily unravel if the writers aren't careful.
HOMELAND premieres 30 September 2012 on Showtime. Channel 4 have suggested the UK premiere won't be too far behind the US this year, but no date has been announced yet.
