We've had a few glimpses of the new characters joining E4's Misfits over the summer, but here's the official ensemble photo. From left to right: Jess (Karla Crome), Rudy (Joe Gilgun), Finn (Nathan McMullen) and Curtis (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett). Amongst the teases for the new series are a six-foot killer rabbit and the arrival of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Could the latter be a rival super-gang using their powers for evil?
What do you make of the new-look gang? Crome's been making a name for herself elsewhere recently, with roles in Sky Atlantic's Hit & Miss and ITV1's Murder, so I'm excited to see what she brings to the show. She's a good actress. I wasn't so keen on Misfits losing many of its original characters (only Curtis is a holdover from series 1), particularly when that meant losing Robert Sheehan, but it does mean the show has boosted its longevity. A character called Abby (Natasha O'Keeffe) will even be joining the gang towards the end of series 4, together with a young man called Alex (Matt Stokoe) who won't be wearing a signature orange jumpsuit.
My only issue with Misfits is how events always revolve around the grim council estate and tower block, perhaps because there isn't enough budget to explore the rest of London and the character's wider circle of friends and family—although creator Howard Overman has promised "... sisters, step mums, dads who aren't dads and dads who are dads" this year, so maybe the world of the show is set to expand...?
Misfits' eight-part fourth series is expected to begin later this year, most likely November.
