It always felt weird BBC2 recommissioned THE WRONG MANS for a second series, considering the story concluded, so I'm glad creators James Corden and Mathew Baynton have instead opted to make two hour-long specials. Although that's equal to four half-hours, which isn't far off the six half-hours they made last time...
Speaking to Radio Times, Corden elaborated:
"We're doing one-hour specials for BBC Two that I think will play at Christmas. It was hard working out whether we do a whole new story, or try and pick up where we left off. I think we've found an outcome that we're all happy with. It took us a long time to find out what the story could be next. The thing with the show is it's the plotting that's really hard. We never wanted it to be a parody of itself; we didn't want it to be The Naked Gun. We wanted the audience to feel that even though it was silly, these were very real situations."Dawn French is also confirmed to return as the mother of Corden's character, with Olivier Award-winning actor Bertie Carvel (Doctor Who, Sherlock, John Adams) joining the show.
Of course, James Corden was recently tipped to replace Craig Ferguson as host of The Late Late Show in the U.S, so let rumours this news is because he doesn't have time to make another full series begin!
