Below are my picks of the most notable new shows, returning or premiering on UK screens over the next 7 days...

MONDAY 28th
Guy Martin's Wall of Death (Channel 4, 7.15pm) Entertainment special where the racer and mechanic builds the world's largest Wall of Death, to participate in a live stunt. Hosted by Steve Jones.
Maigret (ITV, 9pm) Revival of the Parisian detective stories, with Rowan Atkinson as the Chief Inspector Jules Maigret. Co-starring Fiona Shaw, Mark Heap, Shaun Dingwall, Leo Staar & Alexander Campbell.
The Island with Bear Grylls (Channel 4, 9pm) Series 3 of the survival challenge, with 16 new contestants living on an uninhabited island.
Eddie Izzard: Marathon Man for Sport Relief (BBC2, 9.40pm) Documentary chronicling the comedian's attempt to run a marathon a day, for 27 days, in South Africa.


TUESDAY 29th
Life in Debt Valley (BBC1, 10.45pm) Documentary following poor people living in the Welsh Valleys.

WEDNESDAY 30th
Secret Britain (BBC1, 9pm) Series 3 of the factual series exploring British places, opening with a look at the Lake District. Presented by Ellie Harrison, Chris Hollins & Denise Lewis.
President Trump: Can He Really Win? (Channel 4, 9pm) Documentary analysing the possibility that divisive right-wing Republican candidate Donald Trump may genuinely become the next President of the USA.
Happyish (Sky Atlantic, 10pm). New U.S drama series about an ad man going through a mid-life crisis. Starring Steve Coogan. (1 & 2/10)


THURSDAY 31st
The Restoration Man (Channel 4, 8pm) Follow-up special looking at the progress of some builds from the series. Hosted by George Clarke.

FRIDAY 1st
Supergirl (Sky1) Season 1 of the U.S comic-book drama resumes after a mid-year hiatus. (9/20)
Billy Connolly's Tracks Across America (ITV, 9pm) Celebrity travelogue with the Scottish comedian circumnavigating the USA by train. (1/3)
Two Doors Down (BBC2, 10pm) New comedy series set in Glasgow about socialising neighbours, following on from a one-off special in 2013. Starring Jonathan Watson, Alex Norton, Doon Mackichan, Arabella Weir, Harki Bhambra & Jamie Quinn. (1/6)

SATURDAY 2nd
Bake Off: Crème de la Crème (BBC1, 8pm) Spin-off to The Great British Bake Off, focusing on pastry chefs. Hosted by Tom Kerridge, with judges Benoit Blin, Claire Clark & Cherish Finden. (1/8)


SUNDAY 3rd
Life in the Air (BBC1, 5pm) New wildlife series focusing on animals that can defy gravity.
The Hairy Bikers' Northern Exposure (BBC2, 5pm) New culinary series where Si King and Dave Myers circumnavigate the Baltic Sea and sample the cuisine. (1/6)
The Durrells (ITV, 8pm) New period drama about a beleaguered mother in 1935 Bournemouth, who uproots her family to the sunnier climes of Corfu. Starring Keeley Hawes, Josh O'Connor, Milo Parker, Daisy Waterstone & Callum Woodhouse. (1/6)
Undercover (BBC1, 9pm) New legal drama series about a lawyer who returns from the U.S after 20 years. Starring Sophie Okonedo, Adrian Lester, Dennis Haysbert & Derek Riddell. (1/6)
