I'm entering the Red Planet Pictures screenplay competition. Woo-hoo! Top prize: £5000, agency representation and a script commission from Red Planet. Cool.
All entrants have to do is:
1. Submit the first 10-pages of a script (TV/film), a half-page synopsis of the story, and a half-page blurb about yourself -- by 1 September.
2. All submissions will be judged by writer Tony Jodan (Life On Mars), Julie Gardner (head of Drama Wales and drama commissioning at the BBC), writer/actor Mark Gatiss (League Of Gentlemen) and writer/actor/quizmaster/raconteur/egghead Stephen Fry.
3. If they really like your submission, they'll request the full script in October!
4. If they love your script... you could be one of six finalists invited to a workshop day in December with Tony Jordan! You'll also receive mentoring from the Red Planet team!
5. After the workshop, the overall winner will be announced.
Obviously, there will be thousands of aspiring and talented writers submitting stuff. The chances of becoming one of the "Final Six" is therefore quite remote... but, nothing ventured, nothing gained. You gotta be in it, to win it. Etc, etc.
So fingers crossed... and good luck to all other entrants! But if you could kindly submit 10-pages of steaming crap, I'd appreciate it ;-)
