Meet Zoë Saldaña. She's just been cast as Uhura in J.J Abrams' movie relaunch of Star Trek. The 29-year-old actress joins Leonard Nimoy (Spock) and Heroes' Zachary Quinto (young Spock) in the prequel, due for release in Christmas 2008.

Saldaña may be familiar to some people, as she starred with Britney Spears in Crossroads and had small roles in Pirates Of The Caribbean, The Terminal and Guess Who. She is also playing the alien love-interest in James Cameron's upcoming Avatar (2009), so she'll be a big name in about 12 months time!

* Please excuse the lazy tabloid-style pun. But you just know The Sun will use that!
