Star Trek: Original captain now aboard...

Thursday, 8 November 2007

Well, next year's new Star Trek movie is beginning to cast its second tier of characters, now that the main cast is firmly in place. First up is Captain Christopher Pike, who fans will know as the original captain of the U.S.S Enterprise before Kirk -- played by Jeffrey Hunter in the unaired 60s TV Pilot and Sean Kenney in a later episode.

Director J.J Abrams has cast 41-year-old Bruce Greenwood as Pike, who may not be a familiar name, but might be a familiar face to you -- as he's a busy character actor and pops up all over the place. He was most recently in the HBO television series John From Cincinnati, which I'm reviewing occasionally here.
