I was pleased Dexter found an appreciative audience when season 1 aired on ITV recently. This US drama about a Miami forensics specialist, who moonlights as a vigilante serial-killer, is one of my favourite shows. Unfortunately for ITV fans, the FX Channel have first-run rights to UK broadcasts -- so, unless you also have the right cable/satellite subscription, you'll have to wait for ITV to pick up the show again to see season 2. The question is: can you wait that long?
If not, season 2 starts on FX this Sunday 6 July! It's a great season, that improves on the first in many areas -- mainly because the writers aren't adapting a Jeff Lindsay source novel, so can pace the story arc better. To wet your appetite: season 2 begins with Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) having lost his killer instinct, there are brand new characters (including a femme fatale interested in our anti-hero), Sgt. Doakes' suspicions take significant steps forward, and the season's big villain is... well, a very exciting choice!
I reviewed the entire 12-part season at the US pace last year; so be sure to check back here to read my archived review.
