Stanley Kubrick Season: More4, 15 July

Stanley Kubrick's my favourite filmmaker. I recently re-watched 2001 on blu-ray and it's a thing of total majesty. To celebrate the genius' 80th birthday on 25 July (had he not died in 1999), More4 are having a "Stanley Kubrick Season" of 10 films.

It's essential viewing for any cinephile, of course -- but what's really got me psyched is the extraordinary advert commissioned by Channel 4 (see above), that painstakingly recreates the set of The Shining in a continuous tracking shot, featuring lookalikes of the cast and crew.

The "Stanley Kubrick Season" kicks off on 15 July with Jon Ronson's documentary "Citizen Kubrick", based on his celebrated article for The Guardian. The full More4 schedule is here.
