Lost's fifth season is still a very long way off (February '09 most likely), but production will resume very shortly. Entertainment Weekly got hold of descriptions for two brand new characters who will be joining the show:
Caesar; dangerous, physical, extremely intelligent, aged 35-45, with a dark past. His intentions are unclear and he's as skilful at charming people as he is killing them.
Ilanna; a European female, late-20s/early-30s, very intelligent but also very dangerous. She's alluring and used to getting her own way.
No news yet on who will be cast to play these roles, which are initially recurring but might become regular. Still, fans will be happy enough to hit the internet to research any deeper meanings behind "Caesar" (obviously the Roman Emperor, but also a simian revolutionary in Planet Of The Apes?) and "Ilanna" (which means "tree"). Clues? Ooooh.
In other news, Battlestar Galactica's second TVM (following the success of "Razor" in-between season 3 and 4) will apparently air after the series finale in summer 2009. Written by Jane Espensen and directed by Edward James Olmos (Adama himself), the two-hour TVM will be "Cylon-centric" and set before the events of the opening mini-series. It will definitely star Michael Trucco (Anders), Aaron Douglas (Tyrol) and Dean Stockwell (Cavil/Number One).
But I still say these TVM's are a waste of time, particularly if one arrives after the series reaches its natural conclusion. Will we really care about seeing old scenarios from a fresh perspective? Seriously? I'd rather the cash was spent on the remaining episodes.
