TV Picks: 27 October - 2 November 2008

Sunday, 26 October 2008
It's a rather uninspiring week for new television shows in the UK, but here's my best of limited choices...

MONDAY 27th
Autumnwatch (BBC2, 8pm) Bill Oddie and Kate Humble return to guide you through the British wildlife season.
Spooks (BBC1, 9pm) Seventh series of the popular spy drama, starring Richard Armitage (Robin Hood), Hermione Norris and Peter Firth. 8-part series that continues on Tuesday.
Dead Set (E4, 10pm) Reality show/horror crossbreed from humourous columnist Charlie Brooker, where the contestants of Big Brother are unaware the outside world is in the midst of a zombie invasion. Stars Jaime Winstone, Andy Nyman and Riz Ahmed, with a cameo by Davina McCall. Continues nightly until Friday.

TUESDAY 28th
Sorry, nothing new worth watching (besides episode 2 of Spooks).

WEDNESDAY 29th
National Television Awards (ITV1, 8pm) Sir Trevor McDonald presents the annual awards bash from the Royal Albert Hall. Backstage Exclusive follows at 10pm with Sara Cox and Scott Mills.

THURSDAY 30th
Life (ITV3, 10pm) US drama about a detective who is framed for a murder he didn't commit and jailed, before being released years later and returned to work. Stars Damian Lewis, Brooke Langton & Sara Shahi.
Russell Brand's Ponderland (Channel 4, 10.35pm) The controversial comedian returns for a second series of his stand-up comedy series utilizing archive TV clips.

FRIDAY 31st
There's nothing new today worth watching, really.

SATURDAY 1st
Seriously, still nothing new.

SUNDAY 2nd
Bremner, Bird & Fortune: Silly Money (Channel 4, 7pm) Four-part special from the satirists, focusing on the credit crunch.
Sharpe's Peril (ITV1, 9pm) Another adventure for the 19th-century hero, with Sharpe reluctantly agreeing to escort the beautiful but headstrong Marie-Angelique Bonnet across bandit-plagued India. Stars Sean Bean, Daragh O'Malley, Beatrice Rosen, Luke Ward-Wilkinson, Velibor Topic & David Henry.
