J.J Abrams' U.S.S Enterprise

Tuesday, 11 November 2008
What else is there to say? It's the famous starship from J.J Abrams' new Star Trek movie, looking 90% faithful to the original design. At a cursory glance, the "neck" to the saucer is thicker, the warp nacelles are chubbier at the front, but it's essentially the '60s-era Enterprise merged with the Enterprise-A refit of the original movies, courtesy of 21st-century special-effects. Cool, no?

Director J.J Abrams:

"If you're going to do Star Trek there are many things you cannot change. The Enterprise is a visual touchstone for so many people. So if you're going to do the Enterprise, it better look like the Enterprise, because otherwise, what are you doing?"
The Star Trek theatrical trailer will be attached to prints of Quantum Of Solace (released this Friday in the US), and rumour has it the trailer will be available for download next Monday. The film itself is scheduled for release on 8 May 2009 in the US and UK.
