Okay, so now the schedules are beginning to fill up nicely. My pick of the best, new television shows airing in the UK this week, are as follows:
MONDAY 12th
- Countdown (Channel 4, 3.25pm) Jeff Stelling and Rachel Riley make their long-awaited debut as new hosts of the popular, long-running quiz.
- Wogan's Perfect Recall (Channel 4, 5pm) Terry Wogan returns as host of this memory-based quiz.
- Come Dine With Me (Channel 4, 5.30pm) The dinner party challenge returns. Featuring Lesley Joseph, Paul Ross, Abi Titmuss, Linda Lusardi & Rodney Marsh.
- Extreme Dreams: The Ultimate Challenge (BBC2, 6.30pm) Ben Fogle presents another adventuring series, this time journeying from the Equator to the Tropic Of Capricorn.
- Unforgiven (ITV1, 9pm) Three-part drama about a woman who was jailed for 15 years after murdering two policemen. Stars Suranne Jones, Will Mellor, JAck Deam, Matthew McNulty, Steve Whelan, Siobhan Finneran & Peter Davison
- Eli Stone (Sci-Fi Channel, 9pm) Season 2 of the recently-cancelled fantasy drama, about a lawyer who hallucinates.
- Million Dollar Traders (BBC2, 9pm) Eight men and women are given thousands of pounds to try and turn a profit in the world's stock markets.
- 24 (Sky1, 9pm) The long-awaited seventh season 7 of the popular action-thriller, starring Kiefer Sutherland. Double-bill.
- Medium (Sci-Fi Channel, 10pm) Season 4 of the US drama about a psychic played by Patricia Arquette.
TUESDAY 13th
- CSI (Five, 9pm) Return of the US forensics police procedural.
- Derren Brown: Evening Of Wonders (Channel 4, 10pm) Live show from the psychological illusionist.
- Grownups (BBC Three, 10.30pm) Season 3 of the crude sitcom starring Sheridan Smith, Leah MacRae & Steven Meo.
WEDNESDAY 14th
- The Secret Life Of Elephants (BBC1, 9pm) Documentary following a herd of elephants in Kenya's Samburu reserve. And then...
- Could You Eat An Elephant? (Channel 4, 10pm) ... er, amusingly scheduled series on taboo consumption around the world.
THURSDAY 15th
- American Idol (ITV2, 8pm) US talent show presented by Ryan Seacrest, with judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Kara DioGuardi. Part 2 on Friday.
- Flashpoint (ITV3, 10pm) US drama series about an elite group of officers who deal with life-or-death situations.
FRIDAY 16th
- The Border (FX, 9pm) Canadian drama about the Immigration & Customs Security agents patrolling the US/Canada border.
SATURDAY 17th
- Don't Forget The Lyrics (Sky1, 6pm) Shane Richie hosts the second run of this singing gameshow.
- Noel's HQ (Sky1, 8pm) Noel Edmonds presents this five-part series, aiming to inspire the British nation about improving the country.
- Most Haunted: Top 25 Moments (LivingTV, 10pm) Self-explanatory.
SUNDAY 18th
- Hunter (BBC1, 9pm) Two-part spin-off to last year's Five Days, about two detectives investigating kidnapped children. Stars Hugh Bonneville & Jane McTeer.
