Dexter HD; Ashes To Ashes' strong return; Prison Break takes a ratings dip

Wednesday, 22 April 2009

A quick reminder that Dexter's third season gets its UK premiere on FX this Friday @10pm. The series is being simulcast on FX HD for Sky subscribers, but Virgin Media will also have HD episodes available on-demand a few days later. Those HD episodes will stack-up on Virgin's platform until the whole season is viewable by 9 August.

In ratings news, Ashes To Ashes pulled in a very respectable 7 million when it returned to BBC1 on Monday. That exactly echoes the numbers that watched the series 1 premiere. Of course, it probably helped that the BBC have been trailing its return every hour the past week or so!

Over on Sky1, it was bad news for Prison Break. The return of the cancelled series for its final six episodes only mustered 318,000 viewers. Its season 4 average had been 476,000 before the four-month hiatus. A similar downturn was recorded in the US, with 3.4 million viewers tuning in for "The Mother Lode" on Fox, a loss of 1.6 million viewers.
