Poll: Your Favourite Doctor Who Special

Saturday, 18 April 2009

Last week I asked the faithful readership what your favourite Doctor Who special has been. The results were very interesting. In reverse order:

5. The Next Doctor (2008)

In last place, with just 10% of the vote, was last Christmas' special, where The Doctor joined forced with a Victorian imposter to battle the Cybermen.

4. The Runaway Bride (2006)

A surprising low entry with 18% of the vote (as it's my favourite!), but a lot of people still seem to resent Catherine Tate's bolshy debut as Donna Noble, helping The Doctor fend off another alien attack.

3. Planet Of The Dead (2009)

In third place, the recent Easter special about a London bus that gets transported to an alien desert planet, co-starring Michelle Ryan, gets a respectable 19% of the vote. A decent placing, considering the amount of negative comments recently.

2. Voyage Of The Damned (2007)

This was a huge surprise to me (as I personally think it's a horrid piece of cheesy claptrap), but 25% of voters really enjoyed the Christmas "disaster special" co-starring Kylie Minogue, with The Doctor aboard a spaceship called Titanic.

1. The Christmas Invasion (2005)

So, your favourite Doctor Who special (with 29% of the vote) is the very first special and debut of David Tennant as the tenth Doctor. I can see why this is a popular episode, but it's slightly concerning that everyone's favourite special is the one that doesn't feature The Doctor very much!
