As a huge fan of The League Of Gentlemen, I'm extremely interested in Psychoville. Sadly, it's not another project from the quartet that made their names with the black comedy about a strange village called Royston Vasey, but it does star League alumni Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton. It's also, as you can no doubt tell from the embedded clip above, in the same ballpark as their '99-02 award-winning series.
Psychoville features another collection of oddball characters, that will no doubt bewitch fans of peculiar cult comedy: a blind man with a "curious collection", a dwarf in love with his pantomime's Snow White, a midwife with a "very odd child", an ugly Ripperologist with a strange relationship to his mother, and a children's entertainer with a hook. The series will co-star Dawn French, Dame Eileen Atkins, Nicholas Le Prevost, David Bamber, Janet McTeer and Adrian Scarborough.
We'll have to wait until June to see the show itself -- but, in the meantime, head over to BBC2's Psychoville website. There's not much there right now, although you can upload a photo of a friend using their "Blackmail" facility, to create a fake clip from the Graham Norton Show that embarasses them on "live television".
