Desperate Romantics (BBC2/BBC HD, 9pm) Six-part period drama series about maverick English painters, poets and their muses in 19th-century London. Stars Aidan Turner, Rafe Spall, Tom Hollander, Samuel Barnett, Zoe Tapper, Amy Manson, Sam Crane & Jennie Jacques.

WEDNESDAY 22nd
Wildest Dreams (BBC1, 7.30pm) Nine people compete to become wildlife filmmakers at the BBC's Natural History Unit.

THURSDAY 23rd
Tim Minchin: Live (E4, 10.30pm) Standup musical-comedy from the Australian comedian.

My Friend Michael Jackson: Uri's Story (ITV1, 8pm) Documentary with previously unseen footage of Michael Jackson from his friend Uri Geller's private archive, including the singer on a midnight shopping spree at London's Harrods and visiting Exeter Football Club.
Rivers with Griff Rhys Jones (BBC1, 9pm) Griff Rhys Jones discovers how rivers have influenced, nurtured and powered British lives throughout history. Griff starts his journey with the wild rivers of Scotland.
Whatever It Takes (ITV1, 9pm) Drama about a cop whose life is ruined by a night out with a footballer. Stars Shane Ritchie, Amy Beth Hayes, Gary Lucy, Ron Cook, Eva Alexander & Lucy Gaskell.
Gonzo: The Life And Work Of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson (BBC2, 10.30pm) Biography of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, a mythic American figure who launched a brash, irreverent, fearless style of journalism named "gonzo".
