Pick of the Week: "Would I Lie To You?" -- BBC1, Mon @10.35pm
A disappointing week for new television in the UK, beyond a few choice shows earlier in the week. But, nevertheless, here are my picks of what little there is on offer:
MONDAY 10th
On Tour With The Queen (Channel 4, 9pm) In 1953 the newly crowned Queen Elizabeth set off on a six-month tour of the Commonwealth in what actor/playwright Kwame Kwei-Armah describes as a "global charm offensive". This series follows him as he retraces the Queen's journey to see how the former colonies have fared since.Manson (Five, 10pm) Docu-drama about the events of 9 August 1969, when a group of stoned hippies armed with guns and knives burst into wealthy L.A home and butchered its occupants, including pregnant 26-year-old actress, Sharon Tate.
Would I Lie To You? (BBC1, 10.35pm) Rob Brydon takes over from Angus Deayton as host of this comedy panel show, where teams try to bluff each other with tales that are either true or false.
TUESDAY 11th
The Autistic Me (BBC3, 9pm) Documentary following a group of people who have to cope with autism and Asperger's Syndrome.Deadliest Warrior (Bravo, 10pm) Series that pits warriors from around the world and through the ages against each other, using computer simulations, studio demonstrations and dramatized performances.
WEDNESDAY 12th
Nothing, sadly.THURSDAY 13th
How Clean Is Your House? (Channel 4, 8pm) Kim Woodburn and Aggie MacKenzie travel the country looking for the dirtiest homes in desperate need of cleaning.Dolce Vito - Dream Restaurant (Channel 4, 8.30pm) Six-part series where Italian-born Vito Cataffo moves from his home in England back to Italy, to open a British restaurant.
Being Human (BBC1, 10.35pm) Terrestrial airing of the popular BBC3 horror-comedy about a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost who share a house together in Bristol.
FRIDAY 14th
Not much...SATURDAY 15th
Very little...SUNDAY 16th
Nothing, really. Welcome to August!
