Coming Soon: Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe

Thursday, 10 September 2009
Charlie Brooker's TV empire is about to expand again, as the columnist-writer-misanthrope has another "wipe" show to sit alongside Screenwipe and Newswipe, called Gameswipe. This Endemol-produced special aims to do for video games what Brooker's previous series did for television and global news.

Charlie Brooker:

"It's good to be doing more 'Wipes' for BBC4. I started my writing career penning video game reviews, so Gameswipe effectively sees me coming full-circle: it's evolution in reverse basically. Expect pixels, joypads, some of the world’s weirdest games, celebrity cameos and the occasional sound effect."
The 50-minute long Gameswipe will feature Dom Joly antagonizing hardocore gamers online and contributions from Graham Linehan (co-creator of Father Ted) and Dara O'Briain. Gameswipe will premiere as part of BBC4's forthcoming Electric Revolution season, which takes a look at how technology has shaped our lives over the past 50 years.
