Fox's new comedy-drama musical Glee has been picked up by E4 for broadcast in the UK early next year.
Gill Hay, Channel 4's Head of Acquisitions:
"The buzz around Glee has been almost as big as its musical numbers. This huge, glossy, all singing, all dancing musical comedy drama series does precisely what it says on the tin. It's the first of its kind on E4 and we are sure the E4 audience will be thoroughly entertained by its fun show-stopping exuberance when it arrives on the channel next year."Steve Cornish, Fox:
"Glee is a fun and unique musical comedy that we think is a perfect fit for E4. We have high expectations for this show and are delighted to be working with E4 on the UK launch."I reviewed the Pilot here a few days ago, which I enjoyed more than I was expecting to. I'm certainly tempted to watch more, to se how it develops, as there's a lot of potential amidst the pitfalls involved in keeping the premise fresh. It's promising that Fox have ordered a full 22-episode season, at any rate.
It's just a shame that, not for the first time, British audiences are being asked to wait months to see it.
