Unsurprisingly, the excellent teen-superhero drama Misfits has been granted a second series for 2010. The show has averaged 560,000 viewers since it started on E4, and apparently surpasses 1 million viewers when you factor in people catching up using 4oD.
Camilla Campbell, Channel 4's Head of Drama:
"Misfits always felt like a perfect E4 show and the response has been phenomenal. I’m delighted to commission a second series, and like its fans, I can’t wait to see where Howard [Overman]'s inventive scripts take us and the gang."Howard Overman, creator:
"As a writer there is always the worry that people won’t get what you're trying to do, love the characters as much as you, or indeed find them half as funny. The fact that audiences have taken to them so enthusiastically, is enormously exciting as it now gives me the opportunity to expand on the world which we have set up. I had always storyboarded for future series and am thrilled E4 wants us to continue providing some more dark, twisted, storm charged, Misfits style superhero capers. But without the capes obviously."The series 1 finale airs tonight @10pm on E4. Incidentally, E4 HD is now available on the Sky platform if you want to see the misfits in high-definition.
