Psychoville: Halloween special, series 2 delayed till 2011?

Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton picked up the "Best New British Television Comedy" award for Psychoville at last night's British Comedy Awards , and they dropped some interesting titbits of information during their after-show interview on ITV2...

Apparently, they're halfway through writing series 2 now -- but, contrary to reports in the media about a Christmas special and 2010 series, their "special" has been bumped to next Halloween, and series 2 won't follow until in 2011. That's quite a wait fans have!

They also revealed that series 2 will open with a funeral for one of the main characters, before explaining who died and survived the explosion that ended series 1. As expected, series 2 will be a mix of old and new characters. They also said they've been considering the idea of touring with a live Psychoville stage show, but the logistics of achieving that with just two performers* might prove too difficult.

* While certainly harder to pull off the fast costume changes as a duo, surely Little Britain Live proved that two performers can put on an effective stage show, just so long as you have some supporting artistes. It seems to me that Psychoville is more amenable to that than League Of Gentlemen ever was, what with the likes of Dawn French having a prominent role...
