The American remake of E4's teen-drama Skins is being developed in partnership with Canada's E1 Entertainment, the production company behind the hugely popular Twilight movies. Skins USA is still scheduled to film a pilot for MTV next February, with the original's co-creator Bryan Elsley installed as showrunner.
I don't really cover Skins here, but I'm always interested to see how British shows are translated for Americans. Skins definitely feels like it could work very well, provided they don't dilute the British sensibility into the formulaic glossy trash that passes for most US teen drama. With Elsley in control, it feels like MTV are after something very faithful but with American actors, so that's a good sign. Why else bother to remake Skins?
