Fox 21 have optioned John Douglas and Mark Olshaker's best-selling book "Mind Hunter: Inside The FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit", intending to turn it into a HBO drama series. Director David Fincher (Seven, Zodiac) and actress Charlize Theron (who won an Oscar for her role as a female serial-killer in Monster) will serve as executive-producers on the show, which will be indebted to the real-life cases covered by criminal profiler Douglas.Douglas' career has been the inspiration for a number of crime thrillers through the years; from Thomas Harris' Red Dragon and Silence Of The Lambs novels (which gave us Hannibal Lecter) to Chris Carter's Millennium TV series. Mind Hunter has already tapped Dexter writer-producer Scott Buck to pen the pilot script. It certainly feels like they have a lot of serial-killer affiliated talent involved, so this should be an interesting show.
