Is Ricky Gervais going to appear on the American version of The Office as David Brent next season? Michael Ausiello seems to think he will. It's all based on a rumour that was "confirmed" when Gervais hinted he might do something with the US Office next season, while promoting his new HBO series...
Of course, that could just mean writing or directing an episode. Ausiello hasn't considered that more likely option. I'm not so sure Gervais would ever appear as Brent again, see -- although I'd love it to happen. I know Gervais just plays different facets of David Brent in everything he does, but I'd be overjoyed to see the goatee'd, smirking buffoon one last time. A scene between Gervais and Steve Carrell's respective leads at, say, an international paper conference would be a wonderful treat for Office fans.
Or... Gervais could just be fanning flames to help promote his HBO animation and his hosting of the Golden Globes, I guess. Yeah, that'll be it.
