Doctor Who: titles and guest stars confirmed

Thursday, 4 February 2010
There are only a few months to go until the new fifth series of Doctor Who (well, most likely), so we're starting to get official confirmation of episode titles and guest stars who'll be appearing this year. The first two episodes ("The Eleventh Hour" and "The Beast Below") are written by new showrunner Steven Moffat, and the third episode is Mark Gatiss' WWII-set "Victory For The Daleks"...

In terms of guest-stars; Arthur Darvill (Little Dorrit) is appearing in episode 1, Oscar-nominated Sophie Okonedo stars in episode 2, Bill Patterson (Auf Wiedersehen Pet) and Ian McNeice (Edge Of Darkness) appear together in episode 3, Alex Kingston reprises her role as River Song for episodes 4 and 5[*], and Tony Curran (Gladiator) will play Vincent Van Gogh in the Richard Curtis-penned tenth episode.

[*] Based on a few insider reports I've read about filming at Stonehenge and whatnot, it seems likely that Kingston will be appearing in the finale, too -- so, River Song's involvement will assumedly be this year's overarching storyline.
