Luther is a new six-part psychological crime drama starring Idris Elba (The Wire) as the eponymous Detective Chief Inspector Luther, head of the Serious Crimes Unit. Luther recently suffered a mental breakdown, brought about by the trauma of investigating a child serial-killer, and after returning to work he finds himself struggling to keep his career and marriage together.
I'm sure this BBC1 drama will be of interest to anyone who loved Elba's performances on The Wire, where he starred as druglord "Stringer" Bell. Luther is written by Neil Cross (Spooks) and also stars Ruth Wilson, Steven Mackintosh, Indira Varma, Paul McGann and Warren Brown.
