I don't watch E4's teen-drama Skins myself, although Dan Lester kindly guest-reviewed the fourth series earlier this year. Regardless, Channel 4 have released details of the new actors who have inherited the show, following the tradition that Skins replenishes its cast every few years. The new lineup (above), chosen from 7,000 auditionees, are: Alexander Arnold, Dakota Blue Richards, Sean Teale, Sebastian De Souza, Will Merrick, Laya Lewis, Freya Mavor and Jessica Sula.
Of those eight actors, I've only heard of Dakota Blue Richards, who played Lyra Belacqua in the ill-fated Golden Compass movie a few years ago. Ooh, hasn't she grown!
John Griffin, executive-producer:
"More people than ever turned up this year for the open auditions in London and Bristol and the standard of young talent was as high as ever. It was a huge process but incredibly rewarding and we hope that the auditionees had as much fun as we did. We are really excited about the talent that has come through and we now have a brilliant cast of actors helping to create the exciting new characters for Skins series five."Series 5 is currently filming, and is expected to return early-2011.
