TRAILER: 'Merlin' series 3 promo

There was some argument about whether or not the last trailer for Merlin was actually fan-created, given its awfulness. No such ambiguity with this series 3 promo, straight from Auntie Beeb itself. That's far more exciting, no? I've actually seen the first episode ("The Tears Of Uther Pendragon") already, and it's not too bad...

It's certainly the best premiere they've done so far. It's once again too slavish to formula and its intention as a "kid's show" (lots of brotherly bullying between Merlin and Arthur for cheap laughs, etc), but there are signs that a darker edge is coming to the fore. Also, Colin Morgan is beginning to grow into his face, if that makes sense. Or maybe his new haircut's behind his less gawky appearance?

Merlin returns next Saturday (11 September) on BBC1/HD at 7.25pm. My review will go up at Obsessed With Film (linked to from here) shortly afterwards.
