BBC2's hour-long Halloween special of Psychoville attracted an average of 1.5 million viewers on Sunday night, including 45,000 watching on BBC HD. This resulted in a total overnight audience roughly the average of its series 1 ratings, which ranged from 1.08 to 1.7m.
Incidentally, I didn't notice many adverts promoting this special, which may have had a negative impact on the figures. One of my friends, who loves Psychoville, didn't even realize it was on until I reminded him on Saturday night! And, of course, it's likely many people were out partying Halloween night, so this week's consolidated ratings (taking repeats and iPlayer viewings into consideration) will inevitably boost that figure. Not that it's bad, you understand!
Anyway, this proves Psychoville's 15-month absence from TV screens hasn't lost it any fans (is the collective term "Psychos?"), although now they face a further wait for 2011's second series.
