Glee returned to E4 on Monday night, garnering its highest UK rating ever. A very impressive 1.6 million tuned in to see its belated return (with 362,000 watching on E4+1 at 10pm), compared to the 1.1m who watched Glee's premiere last year. This rating also beat the season 1 finale, which managed 1.5m. Glee was the most-watched multichannel show on Monday night. This should be a huge relief for E4, considering the possibility Glee's iTunes-savvy fans could have sourced the show online, watching at the US-pace.
BBC2's new comedy Episodes debuted at 10pm on Monday night, attracting 1.85m. It was comfortably beaten by the return of Channel 4's Shameless, which lured 3.06m pairs of eyeballs. Interestingly, the BBC HD repeat of Episodes (airing immediately after at 10.30pm) enticed a truly abysmal 1,000 viewers. Astonishingly bad. If you ever needed evidence that HD sister channels need to simulcast content with their standard-def siblings, look no further!
