After too many diversions (movies, awards shows, stand-up tours, cartoons, comedy travelogues), Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are back doing what they do best: writing a television sitcom. Life's Too Short is a brand new BBC2 comedy starring renowned "dwarf actor" Warwick Davies (Return Of The Jedi, Willow) as the manager of an agency for actors of restricted growth. As you can see from the trailer above, it also features plenty of Extras-style celebrity appearances (Helena Bonham Carter, Johnny Depp, Sting, Steve Carrell, Liam Neeson), with Ricky and Stephen as co-stars. But this looks to be Warwick's series, first and foremost, and hopefully it won't just be a succession of physical gags about his diminutive height.
As a huge fan of The Office and, to a slightly lesser extent Extras, I'm very keen to see this. I have a suspicion Warwick Davies is going to really impress people with his comic sensibility.
