Below are my picks of this week's most notable TV shows, premiering/returning to UK screens...

MONDAY 11th
Penguins: Spy in the Huddle (BBC1, 9pm) Wildlife series where a camera is planted inside a fake rockhopper penguin, to capture a flock of penguins on the Falkland Islands. Narrated by David Tennant. (1/3)
My Big Fat Gypsy Valentine (Channel 4, 9pm) Special edition of the fly-on-the-wall show.
Chivalry & Betrayal: The Hundred Years War (BBC4, 9pm) Documentary series on various historical conflicts, beginning with the war between England and France from 1337 to 1453. (1/3)
PICK OF THE DAY Black Mirror (Channel 4, 10pm) Series 2 of the satirical comedy-drama, created by Charlie Brooker. In this opener, a grieving widow's dead boyfriend is reproduced by a piece of software. Starring Hayley Atwell, Domhnall Gleeson, Claire Keelan, Sinead Matthews & Chip Chung. (1/3)
Spartacus: War of the Damned (Sky1, 10pm) Third and final season of the bloodthirsty historical drama. Starring Liam McIntyre, Manu Bennett, Dustin Clare, Daniel Feuerriegel, Simon Merrels & Todd Lasance. (1/10)


TUESDAY 12th
Alex Polizzi: The Fixer (BBC2, 8pm) Series 2 of the show where entrepreneur Alex Polizzi helps families that have reached breaking point financially. (1/8)
The Railway: Keeping Britain on Track (BBC2, 9pm) Factual series going behind the scenes of the railway network. (1/6)
The Year Britain Flooded (Channel 4, 9pm) Documentary on the terribly wet weather of 2012 in the UK.
PICK OF THE DAY The Sound & The Fury: A Century of Music (BBC4, 9pm) New music series looking at the changes in music throughout the 20th century. (1/3)
The Hunt for Britain's Metal Thieves (BBC1, 10.35pm) Documentary on the current trend for thieves to steal metal, which has rocketed in value over the past three years and now accounts for a loss of £13m nationwide.

WEDNESDAY 13th
Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners (Channel 4, 8pm) Documentary series about a cleaning agency.
DIY SOS: The Big Build (BBC1, 9pm) Special edition of the show, tackling a particularly big project in Worksop, Nottingham. Hosted by Nick Knowles.
PICK OF THE DAY From the Heart (ITV1, 9pm) Entertainment special raising money for the NHS Organ Donor Register. Hosted by Dermot O'Leary. Featuring Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Laurie, Pixie Lot, Harry Enfield, Paul Whitehouse, McFly, Jools Holland, Alexandra Burke, and many more.

THURSDAY 14th
Britain's Secret Shoppers (Channel 4, 8pm) New series where Justin Preston teaches consumers haggling techniques and other tricks to help their lives. (1/5)
Hugh's Big Fish Fight (Channel 4, 9pm) Series 2 of the campaign to help replenish diminishing fish stocks. Presented by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. (1/3)
Streak! The Man Who Can't Keep His Clothes On (Channel 4, 10pm) Documentary about a man who's in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's most prolific streaker.
PICK OF THE DAY Vegas (Sky Atlantic, 10pm) Season 1 of the US drama about an old-fashioned sheriff who locks horns with a mobster in 1960s Las Vegas. Starring Dennis Quaid & Michael Chiklis. (1/12)


FRIDAY 15th
Sea City (BBC2, 8.30pm) New series going behind the scenes of the Port of Southampton. (1/3)
PICK OF THE DAY The Walking Dead (Fox, 10pm) Season 3 of the US zombie drama continues. Starring Andrew Lincoln & David Morrissey. (9/16)

SATURDAY 16th
PICK OF THE DAY Let's Dance For Comic Relief (BBC1, 6.45pm) Return of the celebrity dancing show, aiming to raise cash for Comic Relief. Featuring Tim Vine, Natalie Cassidy, Ricky Hatton, and many more to come. (1/4)
