The 2013/14 TV season begins this week! Below are my picks of the week's most notable returning/premiering shows on UK screens...

MONDAY 23rd
Tom Kerridge's Proper Pub Food (BBC2, 8.30pm) New series where the Michelin-starred chef cooks food inspired by 'pub grub'. (1/6)
Only Connect (BBC4, 8.30pm) Series 8 of the tough mental quiz show. Hosted by Victoria Coren. (1/14)
Bullied to Death: The Tragedy of Phoebe Prince (Channel 5, 9pm) Documentary about the tragic case of Phoebe Prince, who took her own life after suffering months of bullying.
A Very British Murder with Lucy Worsley (BBC4, 9pm) New series where historian Lucy Worsley investigates how the British turned murder into popular entertainment. (1/3)
PICK OF THE DAY Never Mind the Buzzcocks (BBC2, 10pm) Series 27 of the music comedy panel show. Guest host is John Hannah, with team captains Phill Jupitus & Noel Fielding. (1/13)
Sex: My British Job (Channel 4, 10pm) Documentary where journalist Hsiao-Hung Pai goes undercover as a housekeeper in a London brothel.

TUESDAY 24th
The Crane Men (BBC2, 8pm) Documentary series looking at the work of a mobile crane company. (1/3)
PICK OF THE DAY The Wrong Mans (BBC2, 9pm) New comedy series about two council office workers who become embroiled in a criminal conspiracy. Starring Matthew Baynton, James Corden, Sarah Solemani, Vincent Franklin, Paul Higgins & Tom Basden. (1/6)
Being Paul Gascoigne (ITV, 9pm) Documentary following the former England football star over three months, giving an insight into his everyday life and battle with alcoholism.
My Big Fat Gypsy Ladies' Day (Channel 4, 9pm) Special episode of the docusoap where the travellers descend on Ladies Day at the races.
The Sarah Millican Television Programme (BBC2, 9.30pm) Series 3 of the entertainment chat show focusing on television. Guests are Quentin Wilson, Bradley Walsh & Richard Osman. (1/6)
London Irish (Channel 4, 10pm) New comedy about four Irishmen adjusting to life in London. Starring Sinead Keenan, Kat Reagan, Peter Campion, Kerry Logan & Ardal O'Hanlon. (1/6)
Stacey Dooley in the USA (BBC1, 10.35pm) New series where the presenter investigates various aspects of life in the US, beginning with a prison boot camp for women. (Preciously broadcast on BBC3).


WEDNESDAY 25th
Gogglebox (Channel 4, 10pm) Series 2 of the show where the UK's couch potatoes give their opinions on other TV programmes, such as The X Factor, The Great British Bake Off & Educating Yorkshire. (1/13)
PICK OF THE DAY Staying In with Gregg & Russell (BBC3, 10pm) New chat show hosted by Radio 1's Gregg James & comedian Russell Kane. Guests are Rizzle Kicks & Jason Derulo. (1/8)

THURSDAY 26th
PICK OF THE DAY Super Giant Animals (BBC1, 9pm) New wildlife series where Steve Backshall travels around the world to find some of the planet's biggest animals.
Women Behind Bars with Trevor McDonald (ITV, 9pm) Documentary looking at jails holding some of America's most notorious female prisoners. (1/2)
My Tattoo Addiction (Channel 4, 10pm) New series looking at stories behind tattoo designs. (1/3)

FRIDAY 27th
PICK OF THE DAY Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (Channel 4, 8pm) New US sci-fi drama, focusing on the S.H.I.E.L.D agency seen in the Marvel comic-book and movie universes. Starring Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennett, Iain de Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Cobie Smulders, Shannon Lucio & J. August Richards. (1/13)
Strictly Come Dancing (BBC1, 9pm) Series 11 finally begins after the launch show a few weeks ago, with another group of celebs aiming to life the trophy by Christmas. Hosted by Bruce Forsyth & Tess Daly. Celebs are Mark Benton, Abbey Clancy, Ben Cohen, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Vanessa Feltz, Fiona Fullerton, Natalie Gumede, Tony Jacklin, Julien Macdonald, Deborah Meaden, Dave Myers, Susanna Reid, Rachel Riley, Patrick Robinson & Ashley Taylor Dawson

SATURDAY 28th
PICK OF THE DAY Atlantis (BBC1, 8.25pm) New fantasy drama set in the legendary ancient city of the title, concerning a hero called Jason and his friends Pythagoras and Hercules. Starring Jack Donnelly, Mark Addy, Robert Emms & Sarah Parish. (1/13)


SUNDAY 29th
