DAMAGES creators making the latest Netflix original drama series

Tuesday 15 October 2013

Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler (co-creators of the FX/DirecTV legal drama Damages), have earned a 13-episode order for an original series to be produced by Sony Pictures TV and streamed exclusively on Netflix.

Their untitled psychological thriller concerns a family of siblings whose secrets and scars are revealed when their black sheep brother returns home.

Cindy Holland, Vice-President of Original Content for Netflix:
"We were spellbound after hearing Todd, Glenn and Daniel's pitch, and knew Netflix was the perfect home for this suspenseful family drama that is going to have viewers on the edge of their seats. Their work on Damages was truly ahead of its time and we're proud to be bringing our viewers this upcoming series."
Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman & Glenn Kessler commented:
"We've always wanted to put our spin on a family saga and examine universal themes of family in a way that has never been seen before on television. The series is a tightly wound thriller that explores the complex bonds between parents and children, brothers and sisters, and the rivalries, jealousies, and betrayals at the core of every family."
I'm interested to see what KZK come up with, as I was a massive fan of first season Damages. The ensuing seasons weren't as good (although I've yet to watch season 4 and 5!), but you could always sense their strong creative minds behind everything. Here's hoping this turns into something really special, and sits proudly alongside House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Hemlock Grove, and Arrested Development on Netflix's service.
