The BBC wisely chose to premiere the trailer for Sherlock's third series after last night's Doctor Who anniversary special, so I've embedded it above. There isn't much you can speculate on based on the footage here, but it does enough to get me excited for the show's return. No idea when that'll be exactly, but the smart money's on early-January.
Of course, our first glimpse of this year's Doctor Who Christmas Special also debuted after "The Day of The Doctor". It's only an 11-second teaser, but confirms the storyline for Matt Smith's exit will involve both Trenzalore (the grave site of The Doctor visited in Series 7 finale "The Name of The Doctor") and calls back to the 'Silence Will Fall' threat (which has hung over Smith's incarnation since Series 5, and appeared to have been left unresolved). I'm a little disappointed Smith's swansong isn't being given the two-part treatment, as Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant enjoyed, but still expect a strong torch-passing event for Peter Capaldi...
