Below are my picks of the most notable TV shows, returning or premiering on UK screens this week...

BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY
Britain's Got Talent (ITV, 7.30pm) Series 8's live semi-finals begin. Continues weeknights until Sunday. (8/13)
Springwatch (BBC2, 8pm) Series 10 of the wildlife show. Presented by Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan & Martin Hughes-Games. Continues weeknightly. (1/12)
What the Dambusters Did Next (Channel 5, 9pm) Documentary exploring what became of the famous crew of 716 Squadron, who were part of the Dambusters mission. Presented by John Nicol.
Goodness Gracious Me: Reunion Special (BBC2, 10pm) Special episode of the sketch show, airing as part of BBC2's 50th anniversary celebrations. Starring Sanjeev Bhaskar, Meera Syal, Nina Wadia, Kulvinder Ghir & Dave Lamb.

TUESDAY 27th
Porridge: Inside Out (GOLD, 8pm) Documentary looking behind-the-scenes of the classic prison sitcom for its 40th birthday. Hosted by writers Dick Clement & Ian La Frenais. (1/3)
Welcome to Rio (BBC2, 9pm) Documentary series loking at the lives of people living in Brazil's favela shanty towns. (1/3)
The Complainers (Channel 4, 9pm) New documentary seies about some of the country's most persistent and prolific complainers. (1/3)

WEDNESDAY 28th
Nothing. Have you ever considered bird watching?

THURSDAY 29th
Cutting Edge: Meet the Police Commissioner (Channel 4, 9pm) Documentary on Ann Barnes, the Police & Crime Commissioner for Kent.
Burning Desire: The Seduction of Smoking (BBC2, 9.30pm) Two-part documentary on cigarettes and smoking attitudes and how they're changing. (1/2)
My Granny the Escort (Channel 4, 10pm) Documentary about mature escorts, who often have very young clients.

FRIDAY 30th
Nothing. I mean, bird watching books aren't very expensive...

SATURDAY 31st
Nothing. Ebay sell a lot of binoculars for reasonable prices, too. Honestly, become a 'twitcher'.

SUNDAY 1st
I Bought a Rainforest (BBC2, 8pm) New documentary series about a wildlife photographer who bought 100 acres of Peruvian rainforest. (1/3)
Michael Flatley: A Night to Remember (ITV, 8pm) Entertainment special where Michael Flatley returns to television after 10 years, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Riverdance. Hosted by Christine Bleakley.
