24 IN AFRICA

Tuesday, 10 July 2007
After the awful sixth season, 24's run of bad luck continues as the writers prepare the groundwork for season 7. Apparently, the plan was to film several episodes in Africa, but FOX studio execs have nixed the idea as being too expensive.

Unfortunately, this means all the work that has gone into planning season 7 has been for nothing. It will apparently take three weeks to think up an alternative plot, meaning season 7 will debut a few weeks later than planned next year.

In related news, it is strongly rumoured that a female President will be the Command-In-Chief next year, although this hasn't been confirmed. However, actress Mary Lynn Rajskub has just been told she will definitely return as computer nerd Chloe O'Brien.

Speaking about the show's delayed plans, Rajskub said:

"I don't know what's going on over there, but they're going crazy. We usually start [back up] at the end of July, and I don't think we're starting until a couple of weeks into August now. It's kind of exciting, because I think [the postponement] means that they're really having to dig in there and come up with new stuff.

After the widespread condemnation of season 6, by fans and critics alike, the producers are aware season 7 has to deliver the goods. Another failure risks cancellation, which will in turn jeopardize the likelihood of the long-awaited 24 movie.
