24: The (TV) Movie

Thursday, 6 March 2008

If you're a Jack Bauer fan like me, you're likewise disappointed season 7 of 24 has been pushed back till January 2009, a casualty of the US writers' strike. But good news was revealed today: the producers are working on a 2-hour television movie to air sometime in the autumn!

The TV-Movie's events will bridge the gap between 24's sixth and seventh season, but will herald its first departure from a real-time format. There's no word yet on what the storyline will be – but am I alone in suspecting they've seized an opportunity to use those season 7 draft scripts they abandoned last year, which had Jack Bauer in Africa? Hmmm.

Whatever happens, producers are now busy securing all the main cast members for this little side-project. It will definitely help alleviate the 10-month wait for new episodes (as Battlestar Galactica's Razor TVM did last December), but does all this mean the long-awaited 24 feature-film is less likely?
