In the US: Dr Seuss CGI animation Horton Hears A Who takes #1... sporting fight drama Never Back Down punches in at #3... and Brit director Neil Marshall's latest, Doomsday, is unceremoniously dumped into cinemas, at #7...

In the UK: Prehistoric action-film 10,000 B.C is straight in at #1... homegrown horror-comedy The Cottage limps in at #6 (thanks to a lack of marketing)... hitman drama In Bruges fares worse at #7 (but that's only based on the taking from its early Irish release, with the Colin Farrell-effect working a treat)... but, quite rightly, tweeny 3-D concert Hannah Montana does abysmally, coming in at #9...
