Sarah Connor's bad robot & Heroes changes

Tuesday, 8 July 2008

Click above for the season 2 promo of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which seems to indicate Cameron will survive the car-bomb -- but turn evil as a consequence? I'm sure it won't last long, but it should mean lots more violence from Summer Glau's cyborg character.

Over at Heroes, a number of rumours have bubbled to the surface surrounding "Volume III: Villains". SPOILERS, IF TRUE:

1. Nathan Petrelli will survive the attempt on his life, and discover he can see dead people like Mr. Linderman.
Was flying not enough? How is seeing the dead a progression from flying? Why not give that cool power to a new character? It makes no sense. Can heroes have a random collection of powers now?

2. Ali Larter will be back, but playing a different character with a brand new superpower.
So, a total admission the writers messed up the Nikki/Jessica thing, basically. Obviously Larter's one of the hot women Heroes can bank on for FHM/Maxim publicity, so it makes sense they don't want her to go. But, is it going to be something as lame as a very ironic twin sister? Sounds stupid to me.

3. Mohinder will become romantically involved with a major "hot" character, and start exhibiting superpowers, but may have to "scale back".
A bit cryptic there, but fans have generally taken it to mean Mohinder's going to develop lizard-like protective scales and date Claire's pyromaniac ("hot") mother. Anyway, I think it's a bit sad Heroes can't write a compelling character without superpowers -- apart from Mr. Bennett. Remember when everyone thought Mohinder would become the powerless leader of the heroes in season 1? That seems like a long time ago now. I'd personally just get rid of Mohinder (the most irritating and useless character), and can't see the reason for giving him powers at all.

4. Claire's biological mother will show her how to protect herself from Sylar.

Okay, cool. If Sylar's going to be back, it makes sense for the heroes to work out how to beat him. He's always been too powerful, and we can't just rely on Peter to defeat him all the time. Maybe there's a mental technique to limit his power, or a variation on Kryptonite that can even the playing field a little. But I still think the writers were stupid for giving Sylar and Peter such seemingly unstoppable superpowers.

END SPOILERS. So there you have it. Plenty to chew on.
