Ronald D. Moore's Virtuality to air on Fox

Thursday, 7 May 2009
Ronald D. Moore has laid Battlestar Galactica to rest, so he's now looking to the future. Virtuality is a sci-fi drama he co-created with Michael Taylor (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) about the crew of the Phaeton, Earth's first starship. In the pilot that was filmed, the Phaeton's astronauts are on a 10-year journey and indulge in the onboard virtual reality simulator to pass the time. Then, just as their mission nears a vital phase, a virus infects the system and puts their lives at risk...

Anyway, Virtuality hasn't been picked up for a full series for 09/10, despite positive reviews of the script. But, Fox have agreed to air the two-hour pilot on 4 July. Of course, I urge everyone to watch it, as I'm sure huge viewing figures may revive the project. And we could all do with some Ronald D. Moore-created sci-fi to fill the BSG gap right now.

The pilot is directed by Peter Berg (The Kingdom, Hancock) and stars Clea DuVall, Erik Jensen, Gene Farber, James D'Arcy, Jimmi Simpson, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Joy Bryant, Kerry Bishe, Nelson Lee, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Omar Metwally, Richie Coster and Sienna Guillory.
