TRAILER PARK: District 9

Neill Blomkamp is a very successful commercial director from South Africa, chosen by Peter Jackson to direct a movie based on the video-game Halo (which he filmed many live-action adverts for.) That project is unfortunately stuck in development hell, so in the meantime Blomkamp has turned his attention to District 9, a sci-fi drama about aliens that arrive in South Africa and are interned in a slum by the government. I know it sounds stupid, but check out the excellent teaser trailer above. The movie has been filmed documentary-style, which really sells the teaser's money-shot of an alien spacecraft hovering above an African shanty town. I'm not entirely sold on the insect-like aliens themselves (seen being interrogated), but this is shaping up to be a cult classic at the very least. The YouTube video above is "unedited", so mildly preferable to the HD-quality downloads below...
