We finally have an airdate! Torchwood's "Children Of Earth" will premiere on Monday 20 July in the UK (on BBC1) and in the US (on BBC America) @9pm. The five-part special will air daily in both countries until its conclusion on Friday 24 July. Torchwood is the main draw to promote the launch of BBC America HD, too -- along with Doctor Who's "Planet Of The Dead" (26 July), Being Human's launch (25 July), and Primeval's finale (25 July) -- all part of a special Sci-Fi Week.
So, great news! But, a small part of me feels annoyed American fans get to see new Torchwood's the same day as us Brits. I know timezones mean we still get the episodes six hours earlier, but... still. We're usually kept week or months behind US premieres, so getting homegrown shows first always felt like karma to me. Will they return the favour and give us same-day Lost's, perhaps? Please.
Update: as mentioned in a comment below, it's once again possible that US news sources are getting confused about the UK dates, and that COE will air here earlier than 20 July. One popular alternative date is 15 June, a few days after its press screening on 12 June. Stay tuned for more news...
