THAT MITCHELL & WEBB LOOK 3.4

Friday, 3 July 2009
A definite return to form after last week's disappointment, thankfully. 80% was good, 10% great, 10% bad, and that's not to be sniffed at. As always, it's just nice to get mostly new content in a sketch show every week, and Remain Indoors is a weekly dose of genius...

Great: A recurring sketch with a terminally ill patient having his dying wishes carried out by a compassionate friend, only to grow bored of them after all the massive effort (snowboarding with penguins, reenacting Die Hard, sleeping with his friend's wife); the Remain Indoors quizshow (still excellent, loved the conveyor belt prizes); and low fat "Cressps".

Good: A chef pastiche of Gordon Ramsey, poking fun at the flaws in his Kitchen Nightmares series; homeopathic A&E (kind of obvious, but nicely done); a Pompeii soothsayer suggesting they start recycling in the face of certain death; a Butler discovering his master has believed him to be his gay lover for the past 40 years; and a silly discussion about weeing in the shower.

Bad: Linford's Sprinting Nightmares (M&W don't have much success with quick gags); a couple mistakenly believe their friends have invited them round for a swingers party (didn't work); Get Me Hennimore (the weakest mix-up yet, involving a giant bee and a jar of jam); and misunderstood texts.
